Parish Facilities
Bellingen:
St Margaret’s Church: is a historical building and known for its architectural design and beautiful stained glass windows. It has wonderful acoustics and is a very peaceful sacred space. There is a monthly Taize service at St Margaret’s every third Thursday at 2pm.
St Margaret’s Hall is a large space in the Bellingen parish which is hired out to community groups. The Bellingen Community Playgroup meet weekly during school terms and stores its equipment in the hall. They also have the use of an enclosed play area outside which is maintained by the Parish.
The Rectory is a beautiful historical home next to the church at Bellingen and is currently leased to a private family since our rector resides in her own home.
The Parish Office is a small separate building situated at the rear of the church property at Bellingen. It is open on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
The Op Shop at Bellingen is situated in the main street and is owned by the Parish. This shop is located amongst the interesting shops that line the Main Street of Bellingen. Known as ‘Meg’s Boutique’ the well stocked Op shop is an ideal place to fine a bargain.
Urunga:
St. Barnabas Anglican Church sits in the main centre of the Urunga village community. The congregation is a faithful group of people. The service which is more traditional is every Sunday at 8am. There is also an ‘Open Door’ service on the fourth Thursday of each month at 11am. This service follows the Anglican tradition with communion but is informal and is followed by a light shared lunch.
St Barnabas Op Shop, is presently open only four half days. Unfortunately we have a shortage of volunteers but more are always welcome to join the team. The parish hall at Urunga is the home of the Op Shop and is always well stocked. This is a bright and airy space and a hub of activity during the week.
Urunga also has a Food Pantry which is open on Thursdays and Fridays and is located in the arcade in the main street. The Food Pantry offers low priced food and free fresh vegetables for those on lower income. In the past parish members have helped here.
Urunga is a small seaside village that has a growing population. After the construction of the highway bypass there has been a housing boom with improved infrastructure. This beautiful location is only 20 minutes from Coffs Harbour and is also a popular holiday destination.
